1969: The Birth of the Kyoto Grand Hotel
The Kyoto Grand Hotel was opened on November 1st, 1996 in anticipation of the 1970 Japan World Exposition.
At the time of opening, the hotel started operations with 430 guest rooms, 7 banquet rooms, and 7 restaurants, 2 bars, and a lounge.
1975: Expansion and a Second Wing
In August 1975, a new wing was opened on the south side of the hotel.
The total guest rooms reached 613.
1997: Crowning the RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto
On April 1st, 1997, the Kyoto Grand Hotel was renamed the RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto.
2016: Underwent major renovation work
We closed for seven months beginning in February 2016 and underwent significant renovations.
